Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to the auditions?  

Wear comfy clothing suitable to dance in.

What footwear should I wear?

We would recommend something suitable to dance in. Some people wear dance footwear whereas others wear trainers. 

Is it compulsory to pre-register?  

No it is not, you can just turn up on the day

What if I pre-register then change my mind and decide not to audition?

If you change your mind then please let us know so that we are not waiting for you on audition day, and so we can plan for the correct amount of people on site. This can be done by emailing theatre@starburstfoundation.com

Where do I go to register on the day?

Please follow the signs on arrival and you will meet a member of our friendly team wearing an orange lanyard. They will then guide you from there. We will have a registration table in the foyer of the venue.

The audition venue is Starburst Studios, Old School Lane, Yateley, GU46 6NG

Is there a break during the day?

There are multiple mini breaks throughout the day- please ensure you bring refreshments including plenty of water. 

What if I can't make the Sunday audition day?

Please email theatre@starburstfoundation.com to discuss with a producer. It is at the discretion of the production team as to whether you are offered an alternative date. 

What will I have to prepare in advance? 

There is no need to prepare anything - everything is taught on the day.

I have never done anything like this before. Is it okay to be nervous?

It is natural to be nervous. It doesn't matter at all if this is your first audition. The most important thing is to try your best and have fun. 

When will we find out if we were successful?

The production team will tell you on the day how the results will be communicated. The results are usually published on the Starburst Theatre website 2 - 3 days following the audition.

What day are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are Sundays 2pm - 6pm, mainly singing and dancing. An approximate rehearsal schedule will be communicated on the audition day, however, precise timings are subject to change.

Do I have to attend every Sunday?

If you're selected for a part in the show you will be expected to attend all required rehearsals. You should plan to be called for rehearsals every Sunday. If you aren't required on a certain day, then you'll have the day off. The schedule is set in 4 week stages but is subject to change at any time.

Are there any key dates I would need to be free for? 

Sunday rehearsals from 2 - 6pm.

Technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and for the duration of the show run which will be 7th - 13th July.

Additionally, you are required to participate in Fleet carnival on Saturday 6th July.

What parts can I audition for? 

Ensemble and/or vocalist

What does the audition entail? 

You will be taught a dance routine. This will then be auditioned in small groups. The directing team will call back people to learn the principle dance. You will bring a backing track from a musical. The song will be auditioned as a solo.

Can I just audition without singing or dancing?

No, you have to do a dance audition for ensemble and/or a vocal audition for lead vocalist
